9th May 2006: Construction of trail grooves for research for archaeological findings |
In April 2006 GOM organised an information meeting in co-operation with the Province and the municipality to present the project and all its benefits to all stakeholders. The meeting was a success, 80 people showed their interest by inscribing. Because of the good weather and perhaps the early hour only 50 people came. There was a demonstration what the basin will look like, what farmers can get out of it and how. An estimation of the water quality was presented with reference to the survey the GOM is executing to examine which water quality and quantity there is to expect in relation to agriculture and industrial water use. After the presentation the audience could state their opinion and ask questions. Two farmers already use the water through there one flexible piping system and they want to be able to use this system in the future. The Province is willing to provide them an additional tapping point that exclusively will be used by them. The costs, however, will be declined to the farmers.
Next to managing the participative issues the GOM is conducting a study to determine what water quality is to be expected in the basin. Therefore an inventory of the discharges upstream was made and monthly analyses of the water quality of a similar basin are taken. Using these results and the outcome of bilateral meetings the feasibility of the water supply to the companies producing frozen vegetables will be evaluated.
GOM West-Vlaanderen had a meeting with the Province and the Municipal authorities of Ardooie in order to discuss the way in which the public participation will be carried out. The communication plan was presented, evaluated and suggestions for adjustments were given.
In March 2005 the Province of West Flanders received the report on the soil survey. A strip appeared to be polluted, where a brook used to flow. An extra survey had to be requested for. In April, the supplementary report was submitted in which the demarcation of the polluted area was charted. July 2005 they received the declaration of the Ground Bank with conformity of the Technical Report which points out what to do with the excavated ground.
Mid December 2004 the request for the building permit was submitted. While waiting for the approval, the Province of West Flanders has prepared the tender documents and has presented them and the technical design to the provincial board for approval. October 6th, the tender of the works took place. The allotment is planned in December 2005. This implies the contractor can start in springtime 2006.
